40-year-old MTNL officer Chandan Tiwary loves trees, he chronicles them too. He then describes it in detail and explains their benefits before sharing them on Instagram and Twitter. He has named his Instagram page, Delhitrees, and has 217 posts so far. He has a modest 1,162 followers. For Chandan, Delhitrees is a diary. His main aim is to make people aware of the beauty that exists in everyday life and goes largely unnoticed. Pradip Krishen’s seminal work, Trees of Delhi, is his guide, his Gita. “The book gives me all the information I need,” he says. Every day, while returning from office, Chandan gets off at Nehru Place metro station and walks to his house in New Friends Colony, through Astha Kunj, a 200-acre park. It has become a part of his routine. He walks the 5 km stretch leisurely, buying groceries and spending time with trees. For him, this walk provides a learning opportunity, where he gets to discover something new every day.
